In exceptionally simple terms, there are 3 chief game plans employed. You need to be agile enough to hop between strategies quickly as the course of the game unfolds.

The Blockade

This is composed of assembling a 6-thick wall of pieces, or at least as thick as you are able to manage, to lock in the opponent's pieces that are on your 1-point. This is deemed to be the most adequate tactic at the start of the match. You can create the wall anyplace inbetween your 11-point and your two-point and then shift it into your home board as the game progresses.

The Blitz

This is composed of locking your home board as fast as as you can while keeping your opposer on the bar. For example, if your opponent rolls an early 2 and moves one piece from your 1-point to your 3-point and you then toss a five-five, you will be able to play six/one 6/1 eight/three 8/3. Your competitor is then in serious trouble since they have 2 pieces on the bar and you have locked half your inner board!

The Backgame

This course of action is where you have two or higher pieces in your competitor's home board. (An anchor spot is a point consisting of at a minimum two of your checkers.) It needs to be played when you are extremely behind as it much improves your opportunities. The strongest locations for anchor spots are towards your opponent's lower points and also on adjacent points or with one point in between. Timing is important for an effectual backgame: after all, there is no point having 2 nice anchors and a complete wall in your own home board if you are then forced to break up this straight away, while your challenger is getting their checkers home, considering that you do not have any other extra checkers to move! In this case, it is better to have pieces on the bar so that you are able to maintain your position up till your challenger provides you a chance to hit, so it will be a wonderful idea to attempt and get your opposer to hit them in this case!
