As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The goal is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he ever attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of your opponent, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your checkers and toss the dice again. You'll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar - to harm your competitor's positions in hope to boost your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy uses alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is generally used when you're far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your chips and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice roll.

In very simple terms, there are 3 basic plans employed. You want to be able to hop between strategies quickly as the course of the game unfolds.

The Blockade

This is comprised of building a 6-deep wall of pieces, or at a minimum as thick as you are able to achieve, to block in your competitor's checkers that are located on your 1-point. This is deemed to be the most suitable procedure at the begining of the game. You can assemble the wall anyplace between your 11-point and your 2-point and then shift it into your home board as the game advances.

The Blitz

This is comprised of closing your home board as quick as possible while keeping your competitor on the bar. For example, if your challenger tosses an early two and shifts one checker from your one-point to your three-point and you then toss a 5-5, you will be able to play 6/1 6/1 eight/three 8/3. Your opposer is now in big-time dire straits due to the fact that they have two pieces on the bar and you have locked half your inside board!

The Backgame

This plan is where you have 2 or higher anchors in your competitor's inner board. (An anchor is a point consisting of at a minimum 2 of your pieces.) It needs to be employed when you are extremely behind as this action much improves your opportunities. The strongest places for anchors are close to your opponent's lower points and also on adjacent points or with one point in between. Timing is important for an effective backgame: besides, there's no point having two nice anchor spots and a complete wall in your own home board if you are then forced to break up this right away, while your challenger is moving their checkers home, because you do not have any other extra pieces to move! In this situation, it is better to have pieces on the bar so that you can preserve your position up till your competitor provides you a chance to hit, so it can be a good idea to attempt and get your opponent to hit them in this situation!

The objective of a Backgammon match is to shift your pieces around the game board and get them off the game board faster than your competitor who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a round of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. How far you can shift your chips is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and just how you move your chips are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Players use a few tactics in the different parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Tactic

The goal of the Running Game tactic is to bring all your checkers into your inside board and pull them off as quickly as you can. This plan focuses on the pace of shifting your chips with little or no efforts to hit or block your competitor's chips. The ideal time to use this tactic is when you believe you might be able to shift your own chips a lot faster than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your opponent's checkers; or 3) the opponent doesn't employ the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The main aim of the blocking plan, by the title, is to block your opponent's checkers, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your chips quickly. As soon as you've established the barrier for the competitor's movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other chips rapidly from the board. The player should also have a good plan when to back off and move the pieces that you utilized for blocking. The game becomes intriguing when your opponent utilizes the same blocking tactic.
