The objective of a Backgammon match is to shift your pieces around the game board and get them off the game board faster than your competitor who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a round of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. How far you can shift your chips is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and just how you move your chips are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Players use a few tactics in the different parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Tactic

The goal of the Running Game tactic is to bring all your checkers into your inside board and pull them off as quickly as you can. This plan focuses on the pace of shifting your chips with little or no efforts to hit or block your competitor's chips. The ideal time to use this tactic is when you believe you might be able to shift your own chips a lot faster than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your opponent's checkers; or 3) the opponent doesn't employ the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The main aim of the blocking plan, by the title, is to block your opponent's checkers, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your chips quickly. As soon as you've established the barrier for the competitor's movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other chips rapidly from the board. The player should also have a good plan when to back off and move the pieces that you utilized for blocking. The game becomes intriguing when your opponent utilizes the same blocking tactic.
