The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and pull those pieces off the board quicker than your challenger who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. How far you will be able to move your pieces is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and the way you shift your chips are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Players use a number of tactics in the different parts of a match based on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game tactic is to bring all your chips into your inside board and pull them off as fast as you can. This strategy concentrates on the pace of advancing your pieces with absolutely no efforts to hit or stop your competitor's chips. The best scenario to use this technique is when you think you can shift your own pieces faster than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor's chips; or 3) your opposing player doesn't employ the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary goal of the blocking tactic, by the name, is to block your competitor's chips, temporarily, while not fretting about moving your chips rapidly. As soon as you've created the barrier for your opponent's movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other checkers rapidly from the game board. The player should also have an apparent strategy when to back off and shift the checkers that you utilized for blocking. The game becomes interesting when the competitor uses the same blocking tactic.
