The aim of a Backgammon match is to shift your pieces around the Backgammon board and get them from the game board quicker than your competitor who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a game in Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and fortune. How far you will be able to shift your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you move your checkers are determined by your overall playing strategies. Enthusiasts use differing strategies in the differing parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your chips into your inside board and pull them off as fast as you could. This plan focuses on the speed of advancing your chips with absolutely no efforts to hit or stop your opponent's pieces. The ideal scenario to use this plan is when you believe you might be able to shift your own checkers quicker than your opposing player does: when 1) you have less pieces on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your opponent's checkers; or 3) your opposing player doesn't use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The main aim of the blocking strategy, by its title, is to block your opponent's chips, temporarily, not worrying about moving your chips rapidly. As soon as you've created the barrier for your opponent's movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other pieces quickly from the game board. The player will need to also have an apparent strategy when to withdraw and shift the chips that you used for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when the competitor uses the same blocking technique.
